Embrace Pain

I think that should be my new motto!!!  I went for a run/walk yesterday, pushed myself nicely.  Did a total of 25 min running in 5 min intervals with a 2 min walk in between.  The last 2 running intervals were hard, it hurt, but it also felt so good.  I still have a long way to go before I am running 5km straight, but I am really looking forward to that day... and then to pushing myself even harder!

I really wish I had learned to enjoy this feeling years ago, to love the feeling of my muscles working that much harder.  There is a simplicity with running, a joy that I have found.  I now look forward to those times that I can see how far my body can be pushed.

I am back!

That felt so good!  I feel that I am finally back on track with my exercise, and it couldn't come at a better time.  Spring is just around the corner, and I will be all set to enjoy it and the summer months.

I can't tell you how happy I am with my workout tonight, that felt just as good as the ones from this last summer.  Really makes me wonder how I could have let it slide for so long.  I need this feeling every day, it's too good to pass up.  I will be at the track tomorrow morning to work on my running, 5km, here I come!!!

Break night

Taking an exercise break tonight.  I am just too sore from the last few days that I need to rest my poor muscles.  I did get out for a short walk with the boys, I cannot wait until spring is truly here so that we can spend more time outside.

2 days!!!

Well, I think this might finally be the roll I have been looking for!  As sore as I am from yesterdays run, I still jumped on my elliptical tonight for 35 minutes!  Yes, it hurt like hell.  Yes, I should have been able to go longer.  But, I at least did it!  I have plans to jump on for the rest of the week, except for Saturday, as I will be out for the evening.

It's not like I have a lot to keep me occupied in the evenings.  Kids are in bed, house is usually in decent shape, and if I'm going to watch TV, should make use of that time instead of sitting on my ass!  So, here's to the next chapter of my life... maintaining!

Run time!

Well, even with some serious lack of sleep last night, I got out to the track for a run.  I dropped the older two boys off at school, and headed out with the little one.  Got down to the rec centre, strapped him into the stroller, and hit the track.  Considering I haven't consistently worked out in a good 5 months, I did better than I would have thought.  I was able to do around 22 minutes of running, in 4 and 5 minute spurts.  At the end of it, I also did 40 walking lunges.

Right now though, I am exhausted, and sore.  Rather wish I wasn't in a 4 level split, too many crazy stairs! It's not helping that I went skiing for the first time in 20 years on Saturday, so still have sore muscles from that endeavor.  Tomorrow night I will jump on the elliptical while I watch a show, and will do that each night until Friday.  I will be unable to run on Wednesday, as I will be at Bug's school for his special day.  Next week I should hopefully get 3 days in at the track.

I should be set to run 5km in about 5 weeks.  That will give me a few months to work on time and form before a local race is held here.
